KOMBUCHA AND SWITCHEL - The differences and their benefits

Get sparkled with these two trending sisters - kombucha and switchel.
While kombucha has been more popular and exists in the market longer than the latter, switchel is actually not something new - known as the haymaker's punch or ginger water.  Both brings benefit though they are different in process and ingredients.

Kombucha - how it's made and the benefit

Kombucha is made from green or black tea, yeast, living bacteria (and some uses sugar). The SCOBY (living bacteria) is good for our gut. The mixture is fermented till a few weeks until it gets slightly sweet and slightly tart.  Many believe that kombucha is good for our digestion because of the prebiotics contained. It is also said that kombucha could get rid our body of toxin and boost our energy. As kombucha is made from tea, it does contain of caffeine but the amount is small compared to coffe or tea.  It contains a very small amount of alcohol because of the fermented process (less than 0.5% that it's considered as the non-alcohol beverage)

Switchel - what you need to know

Switchel is equally refreshing - made from apple cider (amazingly you won't taste it's actually vinegar), water, ginger (and som uses maple syrup). Eventhough it doesn't have living culture in it, it has high potassium which is good as the alternative for sports drink.
